The basic principles were agreed upon during a Project Coordinators Meeting in Brussels, March 1996. EUROTHEN came officially into effect in June 1997. EUROTHEN is a network, supported by Community funding, of industries, academia and research organisations that have mutual interests and complementary capabilities in all aspects of the Extractive Industries Sector. This includes exploration, exploitation and processing of ores, industrial minerals and ornamental stones.</font></p> <p align="justify" style="text-indent: 0; word-spacing: 0; line-height: 150%; margin-left: 10; margin-right: 10; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"><font size="3" color="#000000" face="Times New Roman,Times">EUROTHEN provides the necessary forum to share problems and experience, and facilitates the incorporation and transfer of technology and mobility of researchers. It also coordinates activities so that all partners become better informed and able to contribute more effectively to the alleviation of problems.
